- We're part time musicians so we don't gig often. Our instruments include fiddle, guitar, harmonica, accordion, bass, drums, and percussion. Our music is not totally traditional so real Cajun dancers might not be too impressed but we're working on our dance tunes. We do some pop cover tunes Zydeco style. We don't have a home page yet but we may soon. Submitted by: Ted Klett (LLCR51A -at- prodigy.com)

- I am a zydeco accordionist based in Buffalo, NY who leads a band called Leeron Zydeco & the Hot Tamales. We play a blend of zydeco, caribbean, blues, tex-mex and Mardi Gras funk. We have a new CD out called "Shango Shake: American Roots 'n Blues." I've been playing piano-accordion for over 30 years.

- Cajun and Zydeco News
- From Michael & Patricia Lynch, the Publishers,
The Cajun & Zydeco News is a hardcopy snail-mailed newsletter which is sent out monthly to over 400 dedicate subscribers throughout New England and down the East Coast as far as Florida. We purchased it from Nancy Weston (of Bayou Midnight) six years ago, who had published it for ten years previously. We have found that over a third of our 'family' do not have computers and have no other way of finding out the what and where of events other than something of this kind. The rest prefer to have something in a tabular form they can pick up and carry around or attach to the fridge for easy reference without the bother of booting up and going online. We apportion our publishing costs as evenly as we can to all of our subscribers to cover things like printing and postage costs. The newsletter is $10 for 8 months or $14 for one year.
We do maintain a website to put out any late-breaking news or last
minute gig listings at: www.cajunandzydeconews.com

- Maine
- Report by John Cleary (jcleary -at- gwi.net):
- What we do have is: in the Lewiston-Auburn area, we have Maine's only cajun band (Jimmyjo & Jumblo'ayuhs) playing every 3rd Friday in Auburn, and a local dance instructor, Cindy Larock, who teaches one-step cajun swing. In Portland, Paula Mueller and John Cleary have zydeco dance instruction every winter at the Maine Ballroom studios (maineballroomdance -at- gwi.net), and an informal dance gathering at Billy's BBQ every first Sunday of the month between October and June. You can read more about them here. Paula Mueller can be contacted at Paula -at- gwi.net, and John Cleary can contacted at jcleary -at- gwi.net.
- Within the Portland area we have two local radio programs featuring cajun/zydeco music on WMPG-FM. Early every Saturday morning (7 to 9 a.m.), Brian Rollins hosts "The Rubboard Review" featuring both cajun, zydeco and other Louisiana music. David Babb, known as the "Blues Doctor," conducts a 2-hour show every Tuesday evening highlighting zydeco music. Both d.j.'s are knowledgeable about the local cz scene.
