The Atlanta Cajun Dance Association, ACDA, is a non-profit Georgia Corporation formed in order to teach and promote Cajun dance, music, and culture in the Atlanta area. Our goal is to provide people the opportunity to learn about Cajun dance, music, and culture by offering dance classes, and by sponsoring bi-monthly traditional Cajun dances on a good dance floor with plenty of room. We provide dance instruction at all of our dances and try to make them as close to a real Louisiana Cajun experience as we can get here in Atlanta. We feature our three local Cajun bands and bring bands from Louisiana to Atlanta as often as funds, availability, and local interest allow.

Anthony Lewis and Cheri Mullenix are excellent instructors and have been teaching in Atlanta for almost two years. Along with teaching regular classes and workshops (in Atlanta and Athens Ga.), they've brought in instructors from Louisiana, organized trips to Creole country, and have recently started bring bands to Atlanta.

Triangle Folk Music Society

The Triangle Folk Music Society is a non-profit organization formed to present Celtic. Latino, bluegrass, singer-songwriter, blues, old-time, deep country, gospel, Cajun, Tex Mex and other ethnic and regional traditional music. Events include concerts, workshops and lecture/performances.

The Piedmont Blues Preservation Society hosts a number of zydeco acts in the Piedmont triad area of NC. Some of the events they host are Annual Carolina "Lite" Blues Festival and the Annual PBPS Mardi Gras Concert. The Piedmont Blues Preservation Society is an educational non-profit organization which was officially incorporated in the state of North Carolina in August 1985. The society is governed by a volunteer board of sixteen officers, representing a broad cross section of the local community. The general funding is provided through membership dues, souvenir sales, corporate donations, grants, and newsletter advertising. The society currently has approximately three hundred active members.

The mission of the PBPS is the preservation and presentation of the American Blues tradition through live performances, educational programs and workshops, and the documentation of local North Carolina tradition through written, audio and visual media, and our own Blues archives. The PBPS publishes a Bluesletter which is sent to members, other blues societies, individuals involved in the Blues recording industry and local media. Annual programs include a Blues Week and Festival, a regional talent contest, and six to eight Blues Concerts. The PBPS also serves as a referral agency for Blues Artists in the area, participates in other organizations' music-related programs and assists media and other interested persons in obtaining reference and historical media. A member of the PBPS hosts the Blues Hangover radio program on WNAA 90.1 FM and the PBPS supplies some of the recordings used on this program.

Saturdays, 9-10 pm on WSCI (Charleston, SC; Public). This is the original voice of the blues in coastal SC; on the air since 12/84. WSCI is a powerful NPR-affiliate that covers SC, coast, midlands, northeast GA. This and other WSCI programs are pre-recorded.

South to Lousiana

Fridays 10-11 pm also on WSCI. Since 5/91. For you Cajun, zydeco, Nawlins fans. We also produce a Latin show ("La Noche Latina") and a world music/roots mix show ("Erwin Music") on this station but will not list these unless there is ample blues/LA music content (PS: If you want to get on the playlist mailing list for Latin & world music, please respond accordingly).

Paul Kershaw & the Bayou Ramblers

Born in Kaplan, LA in 1926, Paul Dudley Kershaw is kin to Doug, Sammy, and Rusty Kershaw and distantly to Nathan Abshire. Guitarist/singer/double-row harmonicist, Kershaw has made his home in Charleston, SC since 1955. The music he plays is strictly old-time Cajun music the way he learned it growing up in Acadiana in the '30s and '40s. He is backed by The Bayou Ramblers (Flying Fish recording artist Roger Bellow on fiddle, with rubboard, and bass). New CD: "Allons a Grand Kaplan" (Erwin Music EM-9802, 1998). A brilliant "new" addition to the Cajun hierarchy.

Cajun Zydeco Dance Nashville (CZDN)

For anyone interested in Cajun/Zydeco dancing in Nashville, TN here is the scoop. Cajun Zydeco Dance Nashville (CZDN) was organized about 4 years ago. We recently reorganized with new leadership. You can contact us via email: CajunZydecoNTENN -at- aol.com. We send out schedule announcements regularly via email. You can request to be added to our email list at the above contact. Dan Speering is our current leader. He can be reached at 615-207-4167 for up-to-date information. We also send schedule updates for Live bands to Gary Hayman for inclusion in his Promoters Page. We are working on a monthly lesson/CD dance starting in January 2001 and hope to continue sponsoring live CZ bands both local and out of town. Our regular meeting place has been Joe's Diner in East Nashville. We are hoping to add a new location soon: Maxwell's in the Maxwell House Hotel.

  A Bham-based cajun band, comprised of five members playing accordion, guitar, mandolin/bass, drums and fiddle.   The Porchdogs have been playing Cajun and zydeco music throughout Florida since 1993. Along with regular shows at Disney World attractions and Universal Studios Florida, they play numerous nightclubs, business functions, and festivals statewide. They are the only group (national or Florida) to have performed every year of the annual Ft. Lauderdale Cajun Crawfish Festival.
